Tristan Keuris (1946-1996), one of the most recognized Dutch composers after 1950, was born in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. Keuris’ drive was to create attractive temporary music. His inspiration was based on nature and serenity. He wrote music of his time, but did not confirm too much to the existing rules of that period. Based on his expertise he was able to create an intense expressiveness in his compositions.

As starting composer, Keuris was influenced by composers like Mahler, Debussy and Messiaen, but at the same time he was also open for entertainment music. He made works for almost all instrumentations. Because of his enormous professionality and his own natural style, Keuris is seen as one of the leading Dutch composers after 1950 by the majority of the leading musicians next to Louis Andriessen.
